Barely few days to the start of the 3rd Term for the 2019/2020 Academic Year, preparations have reached fever point at Holy Cross International College, HCIC, Yaounde ahead of school resumption on June 1, 2020.
Holy Cross International College will once again reopen its doors for the 2019/2020 Academic Year after schools were closed on March 17 by the government of Cameroon due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
At the school premises, cleaning of the environment is currently going on to guarantee that students start studying as soon as they arrived at the school on June 1.
Talking to the administration, they made it clear that all necessary dispositions have been taken for the children to study in a safe and clean environment.
“As you can see, we are doing our best to make sure that the school environment is clean. Clearing is going on and all the water tanks in the school have been washed to ensure that there is clean and safe water,” a school administrator said.
“Concerning COVID-19, we are taking all the necessary dispositions to ensure that children are safe. Our classrooms have been arranged in such a way that the one-meter social distancing is observed. We will also disinfect all our classrooms. Our school nurses are there and we will be on the alert,” they added.
However, washing hand containers have been positioned all over the school campus for students to wash their hands with Savon regularly and frequently.
According to government prescriptions, only students in examination classes will head back to school to finish the academic year. In the meantime, students of other classes are coming to the institution to collect their report cards.
Going by the new school calendar, depending on the situation of the pandemic, end of year examinations will be written between July and August and holidays at the end of August 2020. As regards to the 2020/2021 school year, the calendar indicates that the Basic and Secondary Education would open its doors on October 5, 2020, while Higher Education and Universities would be on October 15.
